This species is very popular amongst breeders of amphibians, chameleons and many other smaller species of insect eating lizards. As with the larger fruit flies (Drosophila Hydei) they contain a good balance of nutrients as the flies feed on sugars and yeasts so the freshly fed fly will contain simple carbohydrates and B vitamins.
Flies will typically emerge around 21 days after seeding the culture.
